Solo is in piano part.
Scored for 5, 4, 4 plus rhythm, but also playable by 3 reeds (2 altos, 1 tenor), 2 trumpets and 1 trombone. (No WW Doubles)
"Baytrail Shuffle" is a "medium easy" shuffle, originally published by Kendor Music as part of their Konvertible Series. It was originally commissioned by the Penfield, NY High School Music Commission Project. Now available exclusively here, this chart can be easily converted to smaller bands as it is playable by horn sections as small as: 2 altos, 1 tenor, 2 trumpets, and 1 trombone. There are "written out" bass lines, chords and solos if you have students who are just at the very beginning of learning about jazz.
If your students want to get their feet wet improvising, we've provided an MP3 version of "Baytrail Shuffle" with no solos, as well as one with solos, all of which you can provide to the students in the band. There is a streamed video of my band playing this as well, along with a streamed video I've provided for any directors looking for a few rehearsal tips.
