Solos in tenor 2 and trumpet 4 (optional trombone 1). The tenor solo could be other things, we often do soprano, bari or guitar.
Regular 5, 4, 4, guitar, piano, bass and drums and we included an accordion part in case you find yourself doing other pieces of mine with accordion.
Recorded as the title piece of my first album, Evanescence, this piece features tenor 2 and trumpet 4 (Rich Perry and Tim Hagans on the album). It was written for Herb Alpert's "Gil Evans Commission"award many years ago and is my homage to Gil Evans.
I've performed this piece for many years since, and I've had various instruments (reeds especially) play the first solo, and often have a trombone soloist play the second solo. It's nice to have options to round out a program.
This offer comes with interviews with musicians who have performed this music, an MP3 track mixed without the solos for practice, as well as a video of me discussing the way I rehearse this piece.
I also included an optional accordion part should you find yourself playing other music of mine with accordion on the same concert.
