Recorded on The Thompson Fields, "Nimbus" prominently features alto sax and was specifically written to feature Steve Wilson. It's a stormy piece that requires a lot of expression from the rhythm section and soloist.
For this offer, I've created a video where I speak about the writing of "Nimbus." I've included a couple of alternate mixes to this piece to help you separate details a little better for your own study. One takes out the drums to better hear all the harmonic details, and then I included a rhythm section mix. You can also see the premiere via streamed video, where I felt we all captured a particular magic. We all accidentally came to a standstill in that performance. That wasn't intended, but we liked it so much, it stuck.
